Dermatology Interest Group (DIG)

Mission Statement:

The purpose of the Dermatology Interest Group (DIG) is to provide medical students with information, resources, and experiences about the field of Dermatology. Our club accomplishes this purpose by planning a variety of experiences throughout the school year, which includes lunch presentations by dermatologists from around the Phoenix area, shadowing and volunteering opportunities, and clinical skills nights where students can participate in dermatology-related procedures and learn advanced suturing techniques. We hope you will gain a better understanding of Dermatology through all of these opportunities, and if you have any questions or requests, do not hesitate to contact the group leaders.

What do we do?

Our club is an interest group that hopes to expose medical students interested in the field of dermatology to mentors that will give presentations regarding their field as well as offer possible shadowing and volunteer opportunities that allow students to get hands-on experience and see what a day in the life of a dermatologist may be like. Another hope of our club is to hold clinical skills workshops so that medical students may not only gain skills in dermatology, but other surgical specialties as well. Overall, we hope to inform medical students about the field of dermatology by providing opportunities in the forms of lunch presentations, volunteering and shadowing opportunities, in addition to clinical skills labs where students can gain familiarity with procedures and sutures.
