Past Activities 2015
A wilderness medicine campout of epic proportions. Come hang out with some of the coolest kids on campus and get to know your classmates better! Activities include a wilderness medicine talk by several EM residents, swimming in Fossil Creek, hikes, and sleeping under the stars.
- "Intubation and Protecting the Airway" talk from anesthesiologist Dr. Marie Mesaros
- Short intro from Eric Daniels from Karl Storz Endoscopy on the fiberoptic scopes we will be using.
- PLAY TIME - we hope to have at least an hour to try out the scopes on the manikins so everyone should have plenty of time!
Zombie Triage: Disaster Medicine Night
The chief EM resident at Maricopa will give a lecture on the basics of triage and some of her experiences in Disaster Medicine. Dinner will be served. Afterwards, put your skills to the test with daring and life-threatening challenges! Yes, the winner takes all, and that all is in a Zombie Cup.
Taught by Dr. Teresa Wu, the Ultrasound Director at MMC, as well as several attendings in the ED and Radiology. We were joined by 7 residents and had five stations for students to practice. We were also lucky enough to have the pregnant wives of two residents come, as well as our very own Jena Morris (wife of Jason), who was 38 weeks at the time.

Students applied and removed splints and casts to each other and participating clinicians.
