Psychiatry Interest Group (Psych IG)

Mission Statement

The Psychiatry Interest Group aims to foster curiosity, understanding, and advocacy for mental health and psychiatric care within the medical student community. We strive to inspire future physicians to appreciate the complexities of mental health, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and reduce stigma surrounding psychiatric conditions. Through education, mentorship, research opportunities, and community engagement, we empower students to cultivate empathy, clinical excellence, and a passion for improving mental health outcomes in diverse populations.

Our club is focused on introducing people to the diverse speciality of psychiatry. Primarily, we are establishing connections with leaders in the field to help provide clinical and research opportunities for anyone interested in psychiatry. We also work to bring in a physician from each subspecialty to discuss the paths they took and what their daily lives look like. Additionally, we collaborate with other interest groups such as harm reduction and pediatrics to widen the scope of experiences.
