Environmental/Occupational Medicine Interest Group (EOMIG)

Mission Statement:

The Environmental/Occupational Medicine Interest Group (EOMIG) is dedicated to exploring the unique environmental and occupational health challenges that affect communities in Arizona. Our mission is to educate and inspire future physicians to address health conditions arising from environmental factors unique to Arizona, such as extreme heat, water and air quality, and the health impacts of desert living, agriculture, mining, and urbanization.

The EOMIG provides opportunities for students to engage with experts in environmental and occupational health, participate in discussions on Arizona-specific health issues, and explore research and advocacy in these fields.

We organize events that explore topics such as environmental justice, the health impacts of regional industries, and strategies for reducing health disparities in affected populations. By connecting students with mentors, research opportunities, and advocacy resources, EOMIG encourages the integration of environmental and occupational health into medical practice to promote better health outcomes for all Arizonans."
