The Plastic Surgery Interest Group (PSIG) at UACOMP is dedicated to fostering education, mentorship, and exposure in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our mission is to provide medical students with opportunities to explore the diverse clinical, research, and procedural aspects of plastic surgery, cultivate professional development, and inspire future leaders in the specialty. We strive to create an inclusive community that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and service to patients through innovation and excellence in surgical care.
The Plastic Surgery Interest Group (PSIG) at UACOMP aims to give medical students meaningful exposure to the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery through hands-on, interactive learning and mentorship. Our group wants to host events such as graft demonstrations led by medical representatives with surgeon-guided discussions, interactive suture clinics focused on plastic-specific techniques, and guest speakers from a range of subspecialties. We also aim to provide opportunities for students to connect with plastic surgery related research. Through these experiences, we hope to build technical skills, encourage exploration of the specialty and foster an inclusive community of future surgeons.
