Global Health Interest Group

Mission Statement

- To deepen UACOM-P's Global Health program, such that reciprocity, humility, and ethical service, are prioritized in our medical training

- To develop a better understanding of the role of US medical students in engaging in service work abroad. Specifically, to:

>>Acknowledge the limitations of our knowledge about communities abroad

>> Sufficiently prepare in advance of service endeavors

>> Always listen first to health experts within those communities

- To appreciate not only the limitations, but the strengths, of existing local health resources abroad. To center current community health practices, and acknowledge our role as visitors and partners.

Club Events

Each year, GH IG coordinates a medical service trip, partnering with an international clinic.

Prior to the pandemic, the GH IG had an established relationship with several clinics and medical practioners in the Dominican Republic.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has made travel challenging. However, we have established a new partnership with the Rocky Point Medical Clinic. The inaugural GH service trip to Rocky Point, Mexico is set for May 2023.
