Ringside Med will focus on having medical students assist the ring docs in local MMA/Boxing promotions. This will be with the gaming and boxing department of AZ. We will first have students shadow as inspectors and after 2-3 fights in both categories they will be licensed inspectors. Once they become fully licensed, we will begin to help the doctors maintain vitals and neurological exams for fighters whom the doctor may worry might have symptoms of tbi or hemorrhage. The main issue is that the physicians have other fighters/fights to monitor in the mean time which will help relieve the doctors of having to consistently check every 15 min before deeming the injury severe to go to the ER.
